sooo sleepy!

What a whirl wind the last few days have been!!! Yesterday was Betty's 21st Birthday (Betty is the Wardrobe Manager), so Veronica and I were up late the night before baking cupcakes and decorating. We almost finish hanging all the streamers and balloons around her door and out Betty walks from the bathroom.... LAME SAUCE! It's ok, we still surprised her at lunch time when the whole cast sang happy birthday and we presented her with flowers and a princess crown =) After rehearsal finished, some of us went out to the local bar. It was fun to get to hang out with the actors a little bit, especially the ones that will be here all summer. Needless to say, I was up pretty late.

On top of that, I had to wake up early to take my car in to get a new bumper (yay being rear ended) and then went to Penn State to pick up props. Well that was a complete bust! They didn't mention a rental fee and the bentwood chairs alone cost $10 per chair per week! and we needed 6!!! That's my entire budget for this show! So we left a little bummed out. I took Matt to the little antique shop I found last time I was in State College and he wasn't really thrilled with anything =/ whatever. I found old seltzer bottles to use as set dressing in the bar scenes (I'll post pics tomorrow, my phone died) and the dealer loaned them to us!! Which is really good cause I forgot the company credit card. I will definitely be back to that store again because they're always getting new stuff from new dealers.

We had one more stop to make before heading back, mostly empty handed.. the bike shop! Yesterday, after singing to Betty, a bunch of department heads went to Lock Haven University to look at rentals (no fee!) I think we all found a lot of what we were looking for! I found mostly stuff for the next two shows, but that's ok! I mentioned to the LHU Tech Director that we were looking for a vintage bike and he mentioned that first off, I was lucky Penn State was even considering loaning out props to a "lowly theater" like Millbrook (apparently that's how they've treated us in the past) and secondly, there was a bike shop in State College that had a bunch of vintage bikes and might loan one out. So when we looked for the shop called Freeze Thoughts, or something like that, the only store that came up was The Bicycle Shop, so that's where we went. I told them the store we were looking for and why and they asked if we wanted to see their vintage-esque bikes. We found a PERFECT bike almost as soon as we turned the corner and the employee went back to ask the owner and to our delightful surprise, he said yes! No hassle or anything!! We're going to put a small ad for them in the program in return. We were really lucky we didn't get a ticket while we were in the shop though. Apparently Daniel parked the truck over the sidewalk and that's illegal in PA. We got back to our car just as the cop was about the write up the ticket!!! Thank you Jesus!

OH! Yesterday I attached the three iron tables together to create the Jailhouse table. I got to drill through the metal (burnt through two bits...oops) and bolt em together! I had my safety goggles on and ear muffs.. apparently I looked like air traffic control =p The metal shards wound up in the coolest looking spirals =) I posted pics of the finished product. They have lovingly been dubbed the name "3table monstrosity."

Daddy called yesterday to let me know that one of my rats, Nicola, is sick... we separated her from Penny and we're waiting to see if it's a temporary issue =/ It's been such an emotional day!

My goal is to get all the hand and furniture props done by Saturday night ( I like to have Sunday as my day off). Then they're ready for tech on Monday and I can finish set dressing on Monday and Tuesday. Oh yeah, did I mention that the next set of actors come in on Sunday and rehearsals for Lend Me a Tenor start Monday! There's no slowing down now!
