It's so fun hearing them rehearse the songs all morning and then hearing them come together throughout the day =) I got to do some new things today! The director and choreographer have together added about five new props to my list, but I've pulled through on each one so far! They love it! One of the new props was a set of spears for a dance number and I found some relatively nicely hand made ones in the prop room. They were too tall and the posts were made of metal tubing. Matt (TD) remembered me talking about how much I love using dremels and showed me which tip to use to saw off part of the post. Then, I got to use the grinder (lots of sparks! eek!!) to smooth off the edge. So much fun! So I'm usually really comfortable in the scene shop and can use, and have used, many of the tools before... I'm not sure if it's cause this scene shop is new to me or because it's a really old shop or what, but I feel like a newbie again! I'm almost scared to go in there! However, NOTHING can keep me away from the chance to use the dremel =)
Second new thing I got to do today is play engineer. I took out all the inside to the karaoke machine (Liam, the lighting designer, had to help a little). I wonder if we could sell some of those parts? Anyway, this made the machine a lot lighter which will in return make the revolve easier to move. I feel like I need to soak my hands in lotion!
Veronica, Betty and I are becoming great friends. They came over tonight and we all watched a movie and just talked. Betty said it earlier and I'll repeat it, it's so weird but it feels like we're leaving soon.
Yesterday I listened to Woodman Valley's podcast and the sermon was on miracles. I don't remember all the points the speaker made, but I felt very encouraged. One thing he mentioned was to try and get the phrases "that was lucky" and "what a coincidence" out of our vocabulary. Nothing is coincidental, God has His hand on everything that happens! Think back through your day and try to recall something that happened that for all practical purposes, shouldn't have happened.... miracle! They may not be as noticeable as they were in the Bible, but miracles still happen and God gives us a chance to be a part of them.
