So today was exciting! I talked with the director for I'll Be Back Before Midnight and went over troublesome props. He sounds like my college director's husband! and it was very comforting. I had a phone interview with Florida Studio Theatre as well! It was SUPER short and hard to tell what the interviewer was thinking, but he said I should hear from them next week. There were two internships I was interested in, Artistic Assistant/Company Manager and Marketing. The first was already full, but the Marketing position would be good too! I don't know much about Marketing, and it will probably be important, or at least useful to know, for when I own my theatre. the position description is as follows: Assist with writing press releases, design of marketing materials, direct email campaigns and other support. Secondary duty in Front-of-House.
I also got to sit with Matt today and helped him talk out his set designs! That was kinda cool and a lot of fun! I think working with him will be fine =) Liam, our lighting designer, came into town yesterday. He made my 1930's camera flash work!!! YAY.
I got to visit Penn State yesterday! It was beautiful!!! DEFINITELY staying on my top five list of grad school. Cathy graduated from Irvine with an MFA in Directing!! She said that once the season gets going and start to cool down a little, she would love to talk to me about grad school! SO great.
Oh! I also got to draw and design my first "to-scale" plan =) I drew the construction design for the Jailhouse Mess-Hall table!! I feel so smart! (see pic) Note to self, no work gets done once I leave the theatre.. especially with more people in the house. That's it for now!
