Settling in...

9 am seems like forever ago!! There are eight of the tech team members here so far and we all went to a board member's house who was storing all the sound and box office equipment (sorry in advance for lack of punctuation. We don't have Internet at the house yet so I'm blogging on my phone) I crawled in the enclosed truck bed and loaded everything in. I've learned I'm really stubborn in wanting everything to fit! Maybe that comes from having to make everything fit from moving so much throughout college. After that, we had the day to work on whatever we needed to.

I began setting out rehearsal props and in the mean time, learned that with summer stock theater, the rehearsal props usually are the real ones (if available). This will probably end up being easier in the long run, but it'll be a challenge changing my routine at first. I finally was able to print out my props list and went to the furniture room, only to find that there's not many pieces in there we can use except a jukebox (and it's time period too!!) After lunch, I made a list of props that we for sure don't have and will need to borrow/rent. I also talked with Matt a little about how he designs and he told me his website so I could see pictures too. He said he doesn't like things to be "chunky" and after looking at how simple (in style) his sets are, I think I know what he means.

I almost feel like I'm wasting my time because I can't really move forward in any of the big projects yet cause Matt hasn't drawn up the final design yet. He says he'll have it for tomorrow and we'll meet on Thursday to go over it. I did make my first actual prop (as opposed to rehearsal) today! I typed an acceptance letter to dental school! I love paper props, they're always so fun. Except for a scene which takes place in a stationary store storage closet. Not really looking forward to all that.

It rained today! Which provided a nice breeze :) I even turned off my fan!! I've got most of my room set up. I'll post pics when I'm done.

Im going to try and not make this a diary of my actions throughout the day, but for now that's what it is. Sorry, and thanks for supporting me by reading this! I feel so loved and thought of which helps when I'm "alone" out here. Oh! I am making friends with the sound designer Sarah. She sits at the desk connected to mine :)

I know what I learned today! We had to finish striking a set from the past children's show and I learned how to attach a light cable to the plug! Well, I learned how to detach it and therefore in reverse, set it up.

Challenges:
1) finding a time appropriate motorcycle in three weeks
2) using my time this week effectively
3) not swearing. I already feel myself slipping!
